KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- A marketing executive with Utusan Malaysia was killed after the vehicle she was travelling in hit the guardrail at Km 401.8 of the North-South Expressway early this morning.
Shakeera Hani Aznan, 26, was heading for here from Langkawi, Kedah with her colleague, who was driving a Proton Inspira, when the accident took place at Hulu Selangor at 12.45am.
Hulu Selangor Public Order and Traffic chief ASP Mohd Taib Songgoh told Bernama via a text message today that the vehicle went out of control after one of its tyres burst.
"The victim was thrown out of the car into a 10-metre deep ravine after the vehicle rammed the guardrail," he said.
Mohd Taib said police found her body in some undergrowths in the ravine at 4am after a three-hour search. Shakeera's body was sent to the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital for post-mortem.
Her colleague, Abd Salimi Abd Halim, 31, who sustained minor injuries was given outpatient treatment at the same hospital.
